I Think It's My Substack-iversary.
I'm celebrating by thanking you with some special subscriber perks. (Because you're awesome.)
This is a momentous occasion, my friends.
Yesterday, August 1, marked two years since I started posting on Substack.
Sorta.
I’m usually pretty good about these things, but it’s complicated.
I discovered Substack in September 2020 when my longtime blogger friend
announced she would be migrating over here. (Go and subscribe to her—she is an incredible writer.) Shortly thereafter, I created You Have Left the Planned Route but didn’t do much with it. On August 1, 2021, however, I announced the existence of this newsletter to my blog audience, cross-posted here and there, and decided this past February that Substack and I would become an exclusive thing. You can see why this is confusing. (And ultimately, it really doesn’t matter.)
What does matter is that you’re here, reading and supporting my writing. I’m incredibly grateful for that and today—in celebration of what may or may not be my actual 2nd Substack-iversary—I have a gift for you.
(Yes, you!)
If you are already a YEAR ($50) or MONTHLY($5) paying subscriber (thank you, thank you, thank you!), I am giving you a free month on your subscription as a way to express my gratitude. Nothing you need to do—it’s all been handled on the back end.
If you upgrade from free or monthly to a YEARLY subscription by August 31, 2023, you will receive a 20% discount. (Which comes out to $10 off!)
And…if you become a new MONTHLY ($5) subscriber in August, you will get entered into a random drawing to be upgraded to a free yearly subscription. I’ll draw names on September 1, 2023.
These are just a few perks I can offer as a thank you for being here. It means more than you can possibly know. This has been a really tough year, making it a bit challenging sometimes to crank out consistent content. But I’m working on getting back to a more regular writing schedule and I think this 3rd year on Substack is going to be a really good one.
Happy Anniversary! You made me think more about what to call my substack. I understand we get only one opportunity to change it, so I'm giving it lots of thought. I like the name you chose for yours.
Bravo! Always love “visiting” you -- what are you reading, fiction-wise?
